Sweet Molasses Bread

Who’s ready for a new bread recipe?? If you’re anything like me, you’ve been cooking and baking a little more than usual recently.  I’ve definitely been spending more time in the kitchen making all sorts of baked goods, trying new recipes, attempting a sourdough starter, and of course baking lots and lots of bread. Yum!!

It’s been cold here in Michigan, which means it’s still soup weather. We’ve been enjoying homemade bread with soup a few times a week, with leftovers made into toast for breakfast. This sweet molasses bread is the latest experiment in bread baking and I’m happy to say it was a huge success! We LOVED this bread and one child in particular ate piece after piece after piece the night I made it.

Sweet Molasses Bread

This bread is reminiscent of the sweet dark brown bread you get from popular steakhouses.  It is soft and tender and just slightly sweet from the addition of honey and molasses. It’s full of flavor and tastes amazing warm out of the oven with plenty of butter on top.

White Sandwich Bread

There is not much better than the taste of homemade bread warm from the oven. I love making bread, but in recent years I haven’t taken the time to make it nearly as often as I used to. When I do make homemade bread, this is the recipe I find myself turning to again and again. I actually can’t believe I haven’t shared it with you yet, but I’m correcting that oversight now. 😉

White Sandwich Bread

This recipe is for basic white sandwich bread. No funny ingredients or strange shaping methods, just a simple classic loaf of bread that turns out perfectly every time. The bread rises beautifully, is perfectly soft, easy to slice, and tastes amazing – no wonder I can’t stop making it!

Homemade Soft Pretzels

You have got to try these homemade soft pretzels! I made these months ago and I’m so sorry it took this long for me to share them with you, because they are GOOD! 🙂

We love soft pretzels around here, especially fresh out of the oven. They are warm and soft and chewy and absolutely delicious.

Homemade Soft Pretzels

The best part is that the pretzels have that distinctive pretzel taste that comes from boiling them in baking soda. Don’t be alarmed though – that extra step is not nearly as time consuming or difficult as it sounds. I actually timed myself while making these and the boiling step only took an extra 5-6 minutes. Totally worth it for an authentic pretzel taste. 🙂

The dough for these pretzels is very similar to the dough for our favorite pretzel rolls. This is a tried and true recipe that comes out perfectly delicious every time I’ve made it. If you’re craving soft, warm, chewy soft pretzels, then this recipe is for you!

P.S. If you like this, then you definitely need to also try these Soft Pretzel Bites, Ham and Cheddar Stuffed Pretzel Calzones, and Homemade Pretzel Dogs!

Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

How has it taken me so long to make pumpkin cinnamon rolls? We love pretty much anything made with pumpkin, and of course we love cinnamon rolls, so it was really just a matter of time before I combined them. 🙂

These pumpkin cinnamon rolls ridiculously good. They are soft and fluffy and gooey and delicious, just like traditional cinnamon rolls!

Unlike traditional cinnamon rolls, however, they are made with pumpkin, which makes them extra soft and delicious. And they have lots of extra fall spices (like nutmeg and cloves!) all rolled up in their delicious gooey centers. 🙂

Then they are topped with a sweet and creamy cinnamon icing! Even just typing up this blog post makes me want to eat another one, that’s how good they are. 🙂

Long story short, if you like pumpkin and you like cinnamon rolls you are sure to LOVE these. They are the perfect fall breakfast treat!

Soft Dinner Rolls

I have been looking for a good homemade dinner roll recipe for awhile now, and I’ve finally found one that I love! I’m so excited to share it with you because I am guessing you are going to love these rolls as much as we do. 🙂 They turned out so soft and fluffy – exactly what I was looking for in a dinner roll.

I am often in charge of rolls when it comes to family dinners and holidays, and this has become my go-to recipe! I have made these rolls for countless occasions and they are a big hit every time. I love that there is a make-ahead option – a definite must for busy holidays!

Soft Dinner Rolls

The rolls are simple to make, and they freeze beautifully. Often I will make them a few days in advance, freeze them once they are baked, and pull them out of the freezer when I need them. You can even form the dough into rolls and freeze before baking – just like your own homemade version of those popular Rhodes rolls! (Side note: I grew up eating Rhodes rolls for every holiday, and as much as I love them, I promise you that these taste better!)

If you’re new to bread baking, don’t be intimated. Just follow the instructions as written you will be fine! The key is to add just enough flour to achieve a soft dough that is only slightly sticky. I guarantee you will feel like a rock star in the kitchen when you pull these fluffy rolls out of your oven!

Soft Dinner Rolls

This recipe is perfect for all the holiday events coming up – I’ve already made a few batches, and I know I’ll be making a few more of them in the coming months. 🙂

See this link for comments from bakers who tried and LOVED this recipe on Pinterest!

Garlic Herb and Cheese Pull-Apart Bread

Let me introduce you to your new favorite garlic bread. 🙂 Seriously – you will love this! My mom has been making a version of this garlic herb and cheese pull-apart bread for years – we called it “pinch me” bread growing up because you pinch off the pieces instead of slicing them. You always knew there was company coming for dinner when you saw the pinch me bread rising on the counter. 🙂

This bread is so simple to make and it tastes like you spent hours slaving over it. It starts with frozen bread dough, which cuts down on prep time considerably. All you have to do is roll pieces of the dough into little balls, dip in a butter/garlic/parsley mixture and nestle all the little dough balls in the bread pan. Sprinkle cheese on top, let rise, and bake. You end up with a warm, buttery, garlicky, delicious bread that you won’t be able to stop eating. Seriously, this bread is addicting! It looks impressive and tastes even better than it looks – you really can’t go wrong with this garlic herb and cheese pull-apart bread!

Ham and Cheddar Stuffed Pretzel Calzones

Have you ever heard of a pretzel calzone? If not, you are in for a treat! This delicious recipe has salty ham, melty cheese, and freshly roasted broccoli all folded up inside of a pretzel! I used my favorite recipe for pretzel rolls, which pretty much ensures that these calzones taste like giant soft pretzels. Yum! 🙂 I split the dough into 8 pieces, rolled each piece into a circle, and filled each calzone with tasty fillings. As I said above, I used ham, cheese and roasted broccoli, but you could use pretty much anything. After the calzones are filled and sealed, you give each one a boiling baking soda bath and top them with pretzel salt, just like traditional soft pretzels. After being baked, the calzones end up being soft, puffy, just a little bit crispy, and completely delicious. I hope you try these! Don’t be intimidated by making your own pretzel dough – I promise, it’s easier than it looks, and these pretzel calzones are well worth the work!

30 Minute Pizza Dough

I am so excited that I found this recipe for 30 minute pizza dough, and I think you’re going to be equally excited that I’m sharing it with you!  Homemade pizza is a staple in our house – I try to make some version of pizza at least a few times a month. We all love pizza, and it’s really not hard to make at all – especially now that I’ve found this new pizza dough recipe. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my old favorite recipe for pizza dough, but this new one is almost as good, and takes much less time to make – 30 minutes from start to finish! I’ve made it multiple times now, and we love it each and every time. And I especially love that the dough only has to rest for 10 minutes before rolling it out and baking it. I use those 10 minutes to make my pizza sauce, and suddenly pizza night turns into one of the quickest weeknight meals around. 🙂

*If you’re intimidated by yeast dough or homemade pizza, this is a good recipe to start with. The dough comes together easily, and after resting for 10 minutes, it is very easy to roll out into one large pizza or two smaller pizzas.

Pretzel Rolls

I am SO excited to share this recipe with you today! I have made these pretzel rolls more times than I can count, and I finally took the time to take a picture of them and post the recipe.

If you like to make bread at home, you will LOVE this recipe. We devour these rolls, and a batch never lasts long in our house. We eat them by themselves, served with soup, or with lunch meat as a sandwich. But honestly, my favorite way is to snatch one off the baking sheet when it’s barely cool enough to touch. Yum!!

The recipe actually comes from the pretzel dog recipe I posted a few years ago. The pretzel dogs were so good that I decided to try the dough on its own and make pretzel rolls. And I’m so glad I did!

If you’re intimidated by homemade pretzels, don’t be. It is just a simple bread recipe with an extra step. You form the dough into rolls and boil them in baking soda and water, which is what gives them the characteristic pretzel flavor. I admit, the extra step is a little time consuming, but trust me when I tell you that these rolls are completely worth it.

I really hope you try these – we love them!

Homemade Apple Pie Spice

I have a nice fall treat for you today – homemade apple pie spice! This homemade spice mix smells like all the best parts of fall and tastes like apple pie (without the apples of course). This mix is great to use in baked goods this time of year. You can, of course, use it in any recipe that calls for apple pie spice, but I also like to use it to replace the cinnamon in any number of recipes. It’s really just a mix of fall spices, so don’t let the name confuse you. It’s great in apple pie, apple crisp, any sort of pumpkin bread or apple bread, etc. The options are endless! I’ll be giving you a few ideas in the coming weeks, but in the meantime it doesn’t take any time at all to mix this up to keep on hand. Plus it smells great and really gets you in the mood for fall!
