Perfect Christmas Sugar Cookies

Day 12 of the 12 Days of Christmas Treats! I saved one of my very favorites for last. πŸ™‚

I love sugar cookies – especially when they’re soft and fluffy and covered in lots of icing. If that’s the way you like sugar cookies, you will love these perfect Christmas sugar cookies!

Of course they can be made any time of year and cut into lots of different shapes, but I figured I’d call them Christmas sugar cookies since that is when we are most likely to make them. πŸ™‚

Perfect Christmas Sugar Cookies

When I want a sugar cookie that tastes fantastic, this is my go-to recipe. Β The cookies maintain their shape relatively well, but bake up incredibly soft and light. (If you are looking for a thinner cookie that stays flat and works for royal icing, try this recipe.)

They pair perfectly with the vanilla butter icing I’ve included here, and are sturdy enough to hold up to little hands attempting to frost them. (And to the same little hands wiping the frosting back off in order to eat it, not that I’m speaking from experience.)

These would be the perfect cookies to leave out for Santa, or for sharing with friends. I hope you enjoy them. πŸ™‚

Triple Chocolate Fudge Cookies

Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas Treats! How good do these triple chocolate fudge cookies look?? And, I can tell you from experience, they taste even better than they look.

I ate one off the cookie sheet, still warm from the oven, and couldn’t believe how good it was. I immediately called Mike into the kitchen and proudly Β showed him “the best cookies I’ve ever made.” Of course he had to try one as well. πŸ™‚

These cookies are completely soft and fudgy and chock full of melted chocolate. They are definitely best warm, but still taste great at room temperature. I actually took these pictures the day after I made them (I usually freeze cookies the day I make them to preserve freshness), and you can tell they are still soft and fudgy.

If you are craving chocolate, look no further than these triple chocolate fudge cookies – you will love them!

They are rich and fudgy and would be delicious all on their own. Of course I couldn’t leave them alone though – I had to add in a crunchy peppermint white chocolate topping that just puts these brownies over the top.

I had to force myself to freeze these immediately after making them because I was tempted to eat way too many of them. I can’t wait to bring them out and serve them at holiday parties and family gatherings – yum!

Cookies and Cream Fudge

Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas Treats! I’m pretty sure I try a new fudge recipe every year. I love to experiment with flavors, and in my experience, fudge is something everyone loves to see on a cookie tray. πŸ™‚

This year I’m excited to share this recipe for cookies and cream fudge! The fudge has a deliciously rich white chocolate base and is chock full of oreo cookies. It’s smooth and creamy, and just a little bit crunchy from the chopped up oreos.

Mike claims it’s the best fudge I’ve ever made, and I have to agree. Although we both love anything cookies and cream flavored, so we might be a little biased. πŸ™‚

This fudge would make a great holiday gift for friends and neighbors, and also a great treat to munch on straight out of the fridge.

Chex Scotcheroos

Day 8 of the 12 Days of Christmas Treats! I am so excited to finally share these chex scotcharoos with you! I made them months ago and have been saving them all this time so I could share them with you during the 12 days of Christmas treats. πŸ™‚ These are so so good, and I know you will love them.

This recipe takes the basic idea of a scotcheroo (a classic bar cookie made with rice krispies) and turns it into something a little bit more fun and a little bit more delicious. And they are so easy to make! They take about 10 minutes to mix up and are a fun no-bake option for the holidays.

The cookies themselves are chewy and wonderful. They have the tried and true flavor combination of chocolate, peanut butter and butterscotch that makes scotcheroos such a favorite, but they are in cookie form! And the addition of chex cereal really makes these cookies stand out. I have no doubt these will quickly become a Christmas favorite.

Crock Pot Candy

Have you ever tried to make candy in your crock pot? Until I tried this recipe, I had never heard of such a thing! But let me tell you, this stuff is so good, I think I’ll be making candy in my crock pot every year. πŸ™‚

This recipe is so easy to make that you have no excuse not to try it! Basically you dump three different kinds of chocolate in your slow cooker, add some peanuts, and turn it on. That’s it! OK, you do have to stir every once in awhile. πŸ™‚

But seriously, it’s that easy. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper (or into some mini muffin liners if you’re feeling fancy) and you’ve got some seriously delicious candy.

It is so rich and creamy, and full of sweet and salty flavors in every bite. Plus it makes a ton, so there is plenty to share with friends and family.

This crock pot candy is definitely going to be a new family tradition. We can’t get enough of it!

Cinnamon Roasted Pecans

I’ve got a wonderful recipe to share with you today – one that has truly stood the test of time. This recipe for cinnamon roasted pecans comes from my grandmother, and she used to make it every year around Christmas. She would give it away as gifts, and everyone always loved it. Even after she moved into an assisted living facility, she insisted on making these. She would head to my mom’s house for the afternoon so she could make her pecans to give to all her friends. In my mind, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas without them.

The recipe is incredibly simple and very quick to make and your whole house will smell like cinnamon spice as the pecans are baking! Once they are done and coated in a light layer of powdered sugar, you won’t be able to stop eating them.

They make great gifts to share with friends or family, so you may want to make a double batch. πŸ™‚

Better than store-bought, these old fashioned biscotti are topped with a chocolate drizzle, pecans, and caramel for a delicious crunchy treat!

Turtle Biscotti

Here we go with day 5 of the 12 Days of Christmas Treats! You are going to love these turtle biscotti.

I love to try different biscotti recipes around Christmas time, and haven’t been disappointed yet! At the end of the evening, once Zeke is in bed, I love to make a cup of tea or hot chocolate, thaw a biscotti from the freezer, and relax. One of life’s simple pleasures. πŸ™‚ Plus, as I’ve mentioned previously, when we’re visiting my parents for Christmas, my mom and I always eat biscotti as a little Christmas morning snack before the festivities start.

All that to say, I love biscotti, and I’m pretty sure you will love this chocolate, caramel and pecan version! They are full of delicious sweetness, and between the cookie and the toppings they have a great variety of textures. The cookies are nice and crunchy and perfect for dipping in a hot beverage (or in milk!), but they are not so crunchy that it hurts to eat them. πŸ˜‰

The cookies are baked with little caramel bits right in the batter, and then topped with a chocolate drizzle, pecans, and then a little extra caramel for an added turtle effect. They are over the top and perfect for a Christmas treat! Although to be honest, I tend to make lots of biscotti around Christmas, then freeze them to pull out as a fun little treat during the rest of the winter. πŸ™‚ If you like biscotti, you need to try this turtle version – they’re delicious!

Peppermint Sugar Cookies

Day 4 of the 12 Days of Christmas Treats! It’s no secret that I love peppermint flavored treats this time of year. If you look back through my Christmas cookie archive, you will see plenty of evidence of that. I’m only surprised it took me this long to make these peppermint sugar cookies!

The cookies are soft and chewy and have a delicious peppermint flavor. Plus, just like any good sugar cookie, they are perfectly sweet and buttery. I made them a little extra special (and a little more peppermint-y) by drizzling melted candy cane kisses on top – yum! You could also use white chocolate, or just leave them as-is. They are sure to be delicious no matter how you make them. πŸ™‚

*Note: I find candy cane kisses in my local grocery store in the baking aisle with the rest of the Christmas themed baking items. Sometimes they are also in the candy aisle with the rest of the hershey’s kisses. You can also find them on Amazon.

I have to be honest and tell you that snickerdoodles have never been my favorite cookie. I like them and all, but I usually prefer something with lots of chocolate. πŸ™‚ That being said, these brown butter snickerdoodles with caramel bits are pretty amazing!

The brown butter gives them a nice caramel/toffee flavor, and the texture is so incredibly soft and chewy. Add in the caramel bits, and you have a delicious kicked-up version of a classic favorite.

I think you can only find the caramel bits (made by Kraft) in grocery stores this time of year, so now is definitely the time to make these snickerdoodles. I ate more of them than I should admit, and I’m guessing you will enjoy them as much as we did. πŸ™‚
