Isn't it funny, I actually had no idea of the similarity between these recipes. The method is slightly different, and this recipe calls for shortening rather than butter. I'm guessing that helps keep these a little puffier and lighter in color. I do remember being surprised at how dark the ginger chewies turned out. Some of it however, is probably due to lighting. These pictures were taken using natural light, the others were taken using my terrible kitchen lighting. I actually preferred this version of the cookie if you're looking to make one of them. http://www.whatmegansmaking.com/2009/12/ginger-chewies.html under “ginger chewies?” i'm curious because the recipes look the same in the ingredients but even despite the glaze, the photos look different (one version is much darker). is the difference in color because of your photo lighting or am i missing something else? thank you!
