Chai Banana Smoothies

Chai Banana Smoothies

I don’t know what to say about these chai banana smoothies, other than stop reading this post, get in your kitchen and start making them! I’m not kidding. We had these for breakfast this morning and as I write this post, I’ve already got the tea steeping for another batch of them. These smoothies taste just like a chai milkshake, but they’re healthy!  I love the sweet and spicy taste of chai tea, and this frozen creamy concoction is no different. My smoothie wasn’t very thick (we thought it was perfect!), but if you want yours a little thicker, I’d cut down on the milk or, if you don’t mind extra banana flavor, add another banana to the blender.  As for me, I’m busy filling my freezer with chai ice cubes and I’ll be making this creamy treat as often as possible.

  1. Wow, this is so up my alley. I've been enjoying homemade icd vanilla chai teas this summer, and this looks like a great alternative. Making this ASAP!

  2. Two of my favorite flavors: chai & banana. Must make these smoothies.

  3. Hi Megan! I'm wondering how much milk you use? Thanks!!

  5. Cathy – 1 cup! I'm sorry, I left that outsomehow…just updated the post.

  6. Perfect way to start the day!

  7. These look so yummy!
When I brew a cup of tea in the morning, I typically blend a little extra for a tea shake (green tea + honeydew is a favorite), and plus I brew some for iced tea to enjoy with dinner. One pot of water, 3 things! Yay!

P.S. Thanks for the sweet email. I'm so happy we can stumble share again 🙂

  8. Curious what type of Chai tea you use! I haven't found one that matches up to Tazo's concentrate, but I'd really love to so I can cut out the sugar!

  9. Nadine -it depends on what kind you like! I love Stash chai tea – it's a little spicy, which is nice. But I also love Bigelow Vanilla Chai – it's a little more mellow. I tend to alternate between the two 🙂

  10. I'm going to look for Stash, I like spicy! Thank you.

  11. This sounds delish! I don't have any chai tea at home right now, but I do have some vanilla spice herbal tea – will have to try it out!

  15. Banana and chai, it makes so much sense! I bet they are awesome together!

  16. What a great flavor combination for a breakfast smoothie! Banana and coffee is another good one. I sometimes make smoothies with banana, yoghurt with a few instant coffee granules, and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.

  17. What a great combination and looks so wonderful for hot summer days 🙂

  18. What a great way to start the morning. I wonder how this would taste with almond milk!

  19. You just helped me figure out what to do with that last banana in my fruit bowl… Thanks, Megan! I should go and make this right now!!

  20. I've been drinking and making chai from scratch recently but I haven't tried it this way before. great idea!

  21. Megan,
Hey there. I made these but used frozen bananas and it was like a thick milkshake almost. Love it! I
