Brown Sugar Baked Brie

Pillsbury and MyBlogSpark provided me with a couple packages of crescent rolls and asked me to try out one of the appetizer recipes on the Pillbsury site. When I saw that Baked Brie was one of my choices, I knew that was the one I had to try. I’ve been wanting to make baked brie ever since I had it for the first time last winter. I was asked to put my own personal spin on the recipe, so I followed the advice of some of the recipe commenters, and added in some brown sugar. The result was a warm, cheesy, sugary, and absolutely delicious appetizer. I previously had baked brie with puff pastry, but I think I like it with crescent rolls even better. It was warm, but still firm so you could cut a piece and pick it up and eat it. I served it with apple slices, and the two complemented each other perfectly.

Through Pillsbury and MyBlogSpark, I’m giving away a prize pack consisting of 2 coupons for Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dough and a 3 piece holiday platter set to serve your new creations to your guests. For a chance to win, leave a comment below with your favorite way to use crescent rolls. The winner will be announced on Thursday, 1/14. Contest is over, thanks for all your comments! I used a random number generator and the winner is Nazarina A from giddy gastronome! Congratulations Nazarina, please send me your address and I”ll get the package sent out to you 🙂

  1. Ohmigosh that sounds incredible.

  2. The sugar baked brie looks very good! My favorite way to use crescent dough is to wrap it around salmon and bake. But if I received the coupon, I would make this brie, it looks too good.

  3. Holy coW!!! This looks AMAZING! I adore brie, and I can't imagine how it would taste like with that sweet + savory combo, wrapped in flaky crescent rolls!
I have to admit, I have not baked with crescent rolls before…but I'd love to experiment around with it!

  4. wow that looks way too good!

  5. I would probably use the crescent rolls to make a variety tray of stuffed rolls: sausage, brie and cranberry apple butter, nuts and chocolate. Mmmmm…

  6. Oh how I love brie. YUM!

  7. I have not used this dough before but your picture and brown sugar version made my tastebuds tingle!

  8. I've never made brie, but that looks really good! If I won, I'd definitely have to try that!! I haven't used these rolls since I was in high school when I made pigs in a blanket! Those are pretty good, too!

  9. We used to make Pillsbury Surprise Rolls every year for Easter when I was little. They tasted wonderful, we loved to help make them and the surprise ingredient would magically disappear while they baked. To make: 1) Dip a marshmallow in butter then cinnamon sugar 2) Fold the crescent roll around the marshmallow and seal the edges 3) Bake as instructed on the can. Sooo good!

  10. That looks so fantastic!

  11. It is bad that I like them plain and simple? I WOULD totally roll them around a cocktail weenie though anyday! : )

  12. I make my baked brie with crescent rolls too! Although I use pecans, cranberry sauce and brown sugar.
Also…let's not forget that old Pillsbury Bake Off Winner- Zucchini Quiche. It was a big winner. I still make it.

  13. I literally moaned when I read the title and saw the picture – this looks amazing!

  14. Hm, what a concept! I wonder if I could bake up some Sheese to such great results, too… I think an experiment is in order!

  15. I love baked brie-it's so amazing!

  16. Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I absolutely love baked brie. I always use puff pastry for it which tends to be a bit expensive. What a great idea to use crescent rolls! I like adding some toasted nuts to my baked brie. If you like nuts you should try adding some pecans next time. It tastes so good together!

  17. The brie looks beautiful! And I love your husband's rating scale up there. Very cute!!!

    Thanks for the blogby!

  18. I like to roll them up with ham and swiss and spinach inside. NOM

  19. I like making garlic and cheese pinwheels.

  20. Baked brie is always a winner at parties. I like making little cones out of paper, then wrapping the dough around it and baking it. The paper comes off really easily afterwards, then I fill the bread cones w/ chicken or shrimp salad. It's pretty fantastic.

  21. That sounds delicious!

My favorite way to use crescent rolls is to turn them into little pizza pockets. They are so delicious!

  22. well, methinks the only thing better than brown sugary baked brie is brown sugary baked brie that you can make for free! it makes it taste even better, am i right? 🙂
i like to fill the crescent rolls with cinnamon chips and bake them like normal. then, a cream cheese glaze is liberally applied. 🙂

  23. Love love love Brie! So glad you found me, a fellow Michigan food blogger!!

  24. Mega, like your creativity…brown sugar with Pillsbury dough…looks delicious 🙂

  25. Garlic knots!! Split crescent rolls in half, roll into a 6" rope, dip in melted butter and fresh minced garlic. Place on sheet pan and sprinkle with your preferred amount of sea salt. Yummy!

  26. I love baked brie. This looks delicious!

I love the new sheets of crescent dough. I love making the veggie pizza with the crescent crust. I of course also love just plain crescents hot out of the oven with honey butter.

  27. yum! the only time i've had baked brie was after my confirmation – why haven't i seen it since?? this i'll remedy asap! thanks!

  28. i think i love eating it wrapped around mini sausages. simple and delicious.

  29. I have never tried brie, but have wanted to. I don't remember ever not liking a cheese I have tasted. As for canned crescent rolls, my favorite crave is using it for the crust of cold veggie pizza..the one with a cream cheese layer and raw veggies. Love your blogs!

  30. I like to treat the crescent rolls as runic symbols to divine the future. I call these: Prescient Roles.

  31. I would add a pinch of arrogance and a dash of cowardice to the dough and turn my crescent rolls into croissants.

  32. First off this looks like an amazing dessert and I definitely want to try.

Believe it or not my favorite use of crescent rolls is still good old pigs in a blanket. It's such a great comfort food and so simple to make. Just take a hotdog wrap up with whatever cheese and voila yumminess in a crescent roll.

  33. That looks delish!! Great blog…I just found it! 🙂

  34. Brown sugar Brie… I've never tried it w/ brown sugar! I'll have to do that.
I prefer to roll the crescents w/ cinnamon suagr and butter and then bake them. I heart anything cinnamon sugar! 🙂

  35. We are all fans of baked cheese. I've never tried it with crescent dough, but now I will!

  36. this sounds delicious!!!
i am adding it to my recipe box blog!

  37. this looks incredible, it would be hard not to eat the whole thing!

  38. I love to add fresh herbs to my rolls!

  39. I love Nathan's mini-hotdogs baked in crescent rolls, Megan. Your baked brie recipe looks delicious, and when I lose ten pounds, I will celebrate by making this recipe.

  40. Megan, what was Mike's rating for this baked brie? Did I miss it somehow?

    Mary Dobish

  41. Mike's rating was 3.5…sorry I forgot to mention it in the post

  42. Thank you Megan, you have truly made my snowy day. I emailed you my particulars, hope you received it! Maybe now I can try your recipe and enjoy your brown sugar version. That is actually what I really wanted to taste.
    God bless!

  43. Sounds great! Also try gouda instead of brie. (The gouda can be plain, bacon flavored or garlic flavored – your choice). Cut the gouda in a round shape. Spread the crescent rolls out, place the gouda in the middle, wrap the rolls over the cheese. Bake according to the cresent roll package instructions. Serve with pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce. Wonderful appetizer!!

  44. Quite aside from the value of consuming out as in comparison to
eating at dwelling, it is really possibly just not practical
to dine in a restaurant every last single day. Preparation method: Take finely chopped onions in a bowl and add yogurt, grated coconut,
green chili and salt to taste. 6 medium carrots, cut into 2 inch pieces
    and halved lenghtwise.

  45. I like to make this at Easter. I like to put a marshmallow inside a crescent roll with cinammon and sugar (Jesus in the tomb, brown cinnamon represents sins); after baking the marshmallow is gone (Jesus risen from the tomb), and a sweet cinnamon crescent roll is a delicious treat!

  46. Looks amazing…did you leave the rind on the brie or take it off? Thanks
