Homemade Vanilla Creamer

Homemade Vanilla Creamer

I am on a homemade coffee creamer roll! After discovering just how easy homemade creamers are to make, I haven’t been able to stop. I loved the previous versions (pumpkin spice creamer and peppermint mocha creamer), but I think this vanilla creamer is my favorite! It’s perfect to use on a daily basis since it uses all natural ingredients and is a little more healthy than the typical store bought version. Also, the recipe calls for an actual vanilla bean, so the vanilla flavor is nice and strong. I like that you can control the ratio of milk to cream, and even use skim milk if you want. I don’t feel nearly as guilty putting creamer in my coffee each morning with this homemade vanilla creamer! πŸ™‚

Homemade Vanilla Creamer

Ingredients:

1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
4 Tbsp maple syrup
1 vanilla bean, cut in half and seeds scraped out

Directions:

In a medium sized saucepan, whisk together milk, cream, and maple syrup. Cook, stirring, over medium heat. When mixture begins to bubble around the edges of the pan, remove the pan from the heat and add in the vanilla bean and seeds. Cover and let sit for 20-30 minutes. Strain through a fine mesh strainer and refrigerate before using.

*If you don't have a vanilla bean on hand, you can substitute with 1 Tbsp vanilla extract. You won't need to cover and let sit if using vanilla extract.

  1. This looks wonderful! Do you have a favorite source for vanilla beans? I need to just put a big order in for some on-line—it goes for anywhere from $9-&17 for one freaking bean at the grocery stores around here, but I hear you can get it online for much cheaper. I always end up skipping the vanilla bean recipes, but would really like to start making them because they all look so good!

  8. I love creamer in coffee and I always have this issue with typical creamer because I’m not sure what’s in it. This recipe is a great way to have what I like while knowing what I’m eating.

  9. You’re kidding!? Homemade creamer?? I don’t have to deal with the chemical filled store bought stuff, or just use half & half? You have made my day my friend. This will be made tonight and tried out in my coffee in the morning.

  10. Oh, I like how you use maple syrup! My next cup of coffee will have this creamer in it!

  11. How long will this keep in the refrigerator?

    • I would guess it will keep as long as your milk or cream would keep – a week maybe? I normally make half the recipe and we’ve never had to throw it out.

  12. Wow, this looks so simple and wholesome. And, it can be made organically too!

  13. Sounds delicious-I love the maple vanilla combo!

  14. Hi, Megan. I’m so happy that you visited and linked up at One Creative Weekend at OneCreativeMommy.com. The next party starts tonight at 8:00 PM MST. I hope you’ll be back. Your creamer sounds delicious. How creative to make a maple flavor! I’m not a coffee drinker, but I bet this would taste fabulous on top of of cream of wheat or oatmeal.

  15. how much do I love this?
been dying to make my own creamer
have you seen the one that whole foods came out with?
expensive yes, but no crap in it.
i need to make my own.
i want to share this in my friday link roundup.

    • Unfortunately we don’t have whole foods around here. I do sometimes buy a natural version from the store, but it’s so easy to make at home πŸ™‚

  16. If using vanilla extract, does it matter when you put it in? While cooking, or after cooking?

  17. Your coffee mug is so adorable. I love it.

  18. I have politely asked you via email to remove my coffee creamer recipes from your site. Since you have failed to comply I will now file a DMCA complaint.
