Thanksgiving Suggestions

I don’t post all that many Thanksgiving recipes, and I think it’s because I don’t actually ever cook Thanksgiving dinner. I always bring a dish or two, but for the most part, other people in my family do most of the work. 🙂 That being said, however, over the past few years I have posted a few recipes that would be perfect to accompany your Thanksgiving dinner. I thought I’d remind you of them today in case you’re still trying to figure out your menu. (Surprise, surprise – most of them are desserts!)

Pumpkin Gingerbread This Pumpkin Gingerbread with Spiced Buttercream would be a great side or dessert
Slow Cooker Butternut Squash with Apples Slow Cooker Butternut Squash with Apples is perfect for a make ahead side dish that cooks on its own in the crockpot.
Perfect Whipped Cream If you’re serving pie with real whipped cream, check out this little tip for making whipped cream without the mess
Cranberry Relish This Cranberry Relish is a staple at all of our holiday events.
French Bread Rolls I love these French Bread Rolls. Make them a little smaller than pictured and space them a little closer together on the cookie sheet and you’ve got the perfect soft and fluffy dinner roll!
Pumpkin Chiffon Pie Pumpkin Chiffon Pie is a great alternative to traditional pumpkin pie (and will most likely please the pumpkin pie haters!)
Pumpkin Candy Cups You can set these cute little Pumpkin Candy Cups out around the table for a festive touch.
Pumpkin Trifle This Pumpkin Trifle might be one of my favorite Thanksgiving desserts of all time – a nice alternative to pie.
Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake, a Paula Deen classic, is another pumpkin pie alternative
Fall Sugar Cookies Fall themed Sugar Cookies make a cute dessert or table decoration. Make them mini and set them around the table, or leave them unfrosted and let the kids decorate them after dinner. (I found the cookie cutters at Michael’s!)
Pumpkin Cupcakes These Pumpkin Cupcakes are absolutely delicious and will look so cute at your dessert table!
Pumpkin Whoopie Pies Pumpkin Whoopie Pies make a fun dessert for the kids (or adults!) who want something different than pie.
Pumpkin Bread Pumpkin Bread makes a great easy side dish to pass around the table.
Pumpkin Bars No one will be able to resist these moist and fluffy Pumpkin Bars (another Paula Deen classic)!
Applesauce Apple Sauce in the crockpot is an easy and healthy side dish.
Apple Crisp My favorite Apple Crisp recipe – even better than apple pie!
Glazed Apple Cinnamon Bread Glazed Apple Cinnamon Bread is another great side dish to pass around the table.
Chocolate Chai Cupcakes are another fun and unique dessert option.
Apple Pie Bites are perfect if you just want a small bite of pie.
Apple Streusel Bread is half dessert, half side dish.
Pumpkin Spice Creamer would be perfect to serve with after dinner coffee.

Do you have a dish that is a Thanksgiving staple? I’d love to hear about it – let me know in the comments. 🙂

  1. Thanks for the awesome ideas! A staple for us has always been mashed sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top 🙂
